Soccer has ability to improve health profile

April 20, 2009

In a study published by the American College of Sports Medicine, researchers recruited a large group of prepubertal Spanish boys and followed them for more than three years. Those who regularly played soccer for at least three hours a week were compared to those who only engaged in regular in-school physical education of two, 45-minute sessions per week. Several health and athletic ability measurements were collected at the outset of the study period and at the conclusion. These included anaerobic capacity, running speed, forces exerted during a vertical jump, aerobic maximal power, and bone and lean mass.

Among the boys whose activity levels remained constant after three years, the soccer players showed more positive increases in anaerobic capacity (7 percent more), total lean body mass (6 percent more), and total bone mineral density (more than 33 percent more) than the control group. Conversely, those in the less active group had significantly increased their percentage of body fat by the end of the study period.

The study pointed that bone tissue is more responsive to exercise during the prepubertal growth spurt. The results of the study showed that the soccer group not only increased whole body bone mineral density, but also had higher regional measures in areas such as the lumbar spine (13 percent) and the femoral neck in the hip (10 percent). These increases correlated statistically to increases in other fitness factors such as anaerobic capacity and force generated during jumping.

Soccer Stretching

March 5, 2009

Stretching is a critical component of maintaining athletes’ health. We have selected the most important stretches for soccer players and show the exact position in our photos. It is important to first warm-up the muscles some, and then starts stretching.

Muscles used in soccer are hamstring, quads, calves and those are the muscle groups we insist on being stretched ata minimum. Every soccer player should also stretch other areas as required based on their personal needs. It is important to hold stretches for 20 – 30 seconds to make them useful. We have incorporated all required stretches into our soccer practice warm-up. It is important to note that the warm-up drills need to be of low intensity. We have incorporated skill development at a slow pace and moderate running into the stretching program leading to the most effective warm-up for your soccer team.

Don’t overlook stretching and flexibility as part of your training.  Properly stretching at the right time is a key to performance and injury prevention.  There are many different types of soccer stretches.  Soccer stretches come in all types and shapes.  It is applying these different soccer stretches at the right time and the correct technique that will lead to decreased chances of injury and improved performance.

Factors to consider when stretching: Stretching does have its risks. You should not feel pain, only a pulling sensation. If you force your body to stretch beyond its capabilities, muscles and tendons can tear. Proper stretching involves concentration and patience and must be done slowly. Never stretch beyond that slight feeling of discomfort and never bounce.

Stretching is so easy and relaxing, you can enjoy it even while at the office. Make certain your muscles are warmed up properly before stretching. If you are planning to do a full stretching workout, warm up by walking a little first and then stretch. Before any workout gradually warm up your muscles, stretch, and then do your routine. Stretching completely cold muscles can injure them.

Coaching Soccer to Kids

December 17, 2008

Soccer is a game that everybody loves to play. Let it be men, women, youth, kids, it is a game which is equally popular among all genders and all age groups. When we talk about kids, everybody knows that they love to have fun and play. Therefore coaching soccer to kids becomes the most difficult task for the coach. If you will start giving big lectures to them about the rules and regulations of the game, then it would definitely bore them. That’s why the foremost important point to be kept in mind is that try to teach them in a way that is interesting and innovative. Instead of being strict, try to be friendly with them. Do not expect them to play perfectly as they are not experts. Treat them as beginners. Therefore first train them with basic drills like dribbling, passing and kicking together with their teammates. This will make them comfortable in handling the ball which is the most important because gradually with the passage of time they will learn the basic skills of the game.
For being a coach, interaction with just with your team is not enough. Communications with their parents also is a vital task for the proper team management to ensure that all of its components understand the goals and processes the team will follow. The parents should be fully aware about the game and tournament schedules so that they could help their kids to fully practice for it and also help them manage their studies and practices side by side. Outdoor games are very important for the kids to remain active and soccer indeed is a very healthy activity through which this can be achieved. That is why most parents want their children to indulge into this sport to keep them fit and active.

Amazing Soccer Skills

December 5, 2008

Soccer the most amazing and popular game in the world, Statistics say soccer is cherished by 3 billion people from all over the world. But here are only some nations that stand out and become famous from this crowd. Bill Shankly an English soccer manager said “Some people believe football is a matter of life and death. I’m very disappointed with that attitude. I can assure you it is much, much more important than that.” J

So lets talk about the Moves and Skills that are very famous in soccer. Well these moves and skills not have the names from the Soccer organizations but they are named of the player who used or we can say took these skills out of them and these skills require a great amount of Soccer practice. Like most Famous and amazing player Ronaldinho of Brazil. Ronaldinho Flip-Flap, This move will be little overkill if you are new to soccer. The reason is that Ronaldinho Flip Flap move requires some time to learn properly and as a beginner you want fast results. When executing this move in a real soccer game you should have an opponent near you. You should not execute the move 2 yards from the opponent because on that way you will never get past him or her. 2nd is also from a top Soccer player called C 7 Ronaldo Super Move, This move is one of the coolest and greatest for getting around your defender. To perform it you will need to shift the ball quickly between your feet as you drive the ball forward. However, be sure to try out this move on your practice first before executing it in your games. 3rd is Robinho Move (Pullback) This move will be pretty useful when there is little space between you and your defender. The move is often used by Madrids dribbling start Robinho to trick his opponents. As with all other moves you need to execute this one with precision and determination to make it work. However, keep in mind that you should not execute this move too often. The reason is that opponents may learn you style of play which will make it easier for them to stop you.

If you are new to soccer, It will be very difficult for you to understand the positions of soccer players in the ground so let me just tell you some names of the positions and in next post I’ll discuss the positions. So the positions are Forwards, Defenders aka Fullbacks, Midfielders aka Halfbacks and definitely the Goalies.

In this amazing soccer game if we give the players some leather soccer uniform so what they would be look like we can just imagine. In the earlier posts I had discussed about the importance of soccer uniforms in the soccer game and about soccer training. In the next session of soccer uniforms I’ll gona tell you about the famous brands that are making soccer uniforms, soccer jerseys and other soccer gear.
